Welcome to
The American
Rabbi
Web-site
The American
Rabbi, now in its 48th year, is a cooperative
venture of literally thousands of American Rabbis since
its inception in 1961, led by the late Rabbi Harry
Essrog.
Rabbis have shared
the thoughts and ideas of our great sages from Talmudic
times, the Middle Ages, our Spanish Golden Age, and even
our European Hassidic masters. Yet none of these Sages
could have comprehended the American Jewish Experience.
Thus it is, in the
same tradition, that The American Rabbi came into
being to share the unique ideas of American
Rabbis in the Twentieth and now Twenty-First Century.
As in the past,
all that is asked is that we give credit to those who
have shared their ideas with us.
The American Rabbi comes in two formats, each with
different materials
The American Rabbi Web-site
- a dynamic, ever growing collection of submitted
materials for every aspect of a Rabbis preaching needs.
You are currently on a public section of our recently
re-formated site. There are an estimated 1,800
sermons, drash, and stories on the site at this time.
Everything is set up by category.
Each Web-page
starts with a Table of Contents listing the Name of each
Sermon and its author. Then follows the
GTTP items - the
"Get-to-the-Point" statements upon which you can build
your own unique sermons. Our GTTP Technology allows you
to review dozens of sermons in just a few minutes,
looking for ideas that interest you - for your ORIGINAL
sermon or drash.
Each page moves
back an forth with speed, saving you a tremendous amount
of valuable time. The web-site is build for computers
with DSL or Cable speeds.
Each Subscriber is
assigned his/her own special Entry Codes.
Subscriptions are
only accepted from Clergy, or in special cases, the
religious leader of a synagogue without Clergy.
Subscriptions
start on June 30th each year. However, subscribers from
January 1st get the current website up until the next June 30th as a
bonus.
Cost is $79
The American Rabbi Anthology
- a published book consisting of sermons and drash
from about 40 selected Rabbis, covering most materials
useful for the High Holy Days, with some additional
works for later holidays. Each published sermon or drash is begun with a list of the two-three-four
main points used by its creator. We call these the
"Get-to-the-Point" items.
The Anthology consists
of different material then the Web-site.
Approximately 300+
pages. Must be ordered before June 10th. There is only
one printing each year - just enough copies for those
that orders have been received before June 30th each
year.
Cost is $79
(Contact us to see if there are any left-over or over-run
copies available.)
Cost for Both the
Anthology and the Web-site is $158
